Will Skudin is a world renowned big wave surfer. If you don’t know what that means, to simplify it Will rides waves taller than apartment buildings that move faster than you drive through your neighborhood. “You see a pool, I see a horse” is how Will described the ocean. The mindset that goes into what Will does is incredible. In this interview we talk about falling off of a wave and not knowing if he was going to survive as he lost feeling in his arms and legs, starting the largest surf camp in the northeast, and having the patience to wait 8 hours to catch three waves on a great training day. We also discuss culture and what it’s like to consistently be a guest in someone else’s ocean. This conversation got deep, no pun intended. You should give this episode a listen when you can really let yourself relax and take it in.
